Gold finches

The male goldfinches are turning into their bright yellow coats for summer and they look beautiful.  That's just one of the many birds that can be seen around our property.  Why not make your reservation now for a quiet getaway.

Birds and more

We love all the birds that are around our B&B but if you aren't 'into' birds, there are some nice shops in the closest towns to us.  There is the coffeE cup in Henry which has great coffee, other drinks, lunches, and gifts.  Julie's Corner Store in Lacon has the best fudge, wonderful gifts, and a wine tasting room.  These are just a few of the things to do when you visit our B&B.

Cinnamon Bun Pie recipe

17 oz pkg of refrigerated flaky biscuits (8 biscuits worth)
3/4 c. plus 2 T butter (about 1 and 3/4 sticks), melted
1 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. sugar
1 T ground cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 375° F. Coat the bottom of a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate with 2 tablespoons melted butter; set aside. In a small bowl, combine the pecans, sugar, and cinnamon; mix well. Sprinkle 1/4 of the pecan mixture over the bottom of the pie plate. Place the remaining 3/4 cup melted butter in a small bowl. Separate each biscuit into 3 layers. Dip the biscuit pieces one at a time in the melted butter, coating each piece thoroughly. Layer 8 biscuit pieces in the bottom of the pie plate, completely covering the pecan mixture. Repeat the pecan mixture and biscuit layers 2 more times. Top with the remaining pecan mixture and drizzle with any leftover melted butter. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and cooked through. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving platter and slice into wedges. Serve warm.

New pontoon boat

One more improvement to Mission Oak Inn is on order and delivery should be by the end of March.  This is another pontoon boat that will replace the old red bass boat and is slightly longer than the other pontoon boat we currently have.
